White cake with maple walnut glaze icing is delicious and makes a nice cake to serve to company.
This white cake is made differently, with hot milk and butter.
You prepare your glaze icing by boiling it in a pot and then you spread it over your cooked and still warm cake. The glaze sets up as it cools.
If you like the flavor of maple walnut, this fluffy white cake with glazed maple walnut icing fits the bill nicely.
If you are looking for something a little different, this recipe will help you to add another delicious tasting cake to your repertoire.
White Cake with Maple Walnut Glaze Icing
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp. butter
- Beat eggs and gradually add in the sugar. Beat until well mixed. Stir in vanilla.
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and add to first mixture, beating well.
- Add butter to milk and bring to a boil, then pour into bowl and beat well.
- Scrape out cake batter into a buttered oblong cake pan or a large bundt pan and bake at 325 degrees for 20-40 minutes until done in center. Reduce heat towards end of cooking time so cake bottom doesn't overbrown.
Maple Walnut Glaze Icing
Prepare this glaze, stir in chopped walnuts, and spread on warm cake:
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 milk
- Bring ingredients to a soft boil and continue to boil, stirring, for 2-5 minutes. This step is important for glaze to set up properly. Reduce heat, so that glaze doesn't stick to bottom of pan and burn but maintains temperature as it boils and thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in:
- 2-3 capfuls of maple flavoring (to taste)
- 1-2 cups chopped walnuts.
Spread over warm cake and set in fridge to cool. Glaze will thicken as it cools.

This sounds like another good recipe to try when my mom (who is the baker!) gets here Friday. The thing I like best about your recipes is the simplicity. A long list of ingredients intimidates me on some level :) Voted this one up and shared it with my friends and family.
