Talented Singer Clay Aiken
65Singer Clay Aiken has captured a worldwide audience with his outstanding vocal ability. Clay combines a touch of Southern charm with dynamite singing.
This young man has talent that runs right down to his pinky fingers. He absolutely wowed audiences with his performances on American Idol, and in the resultant frenzy, was catapulted to stardom.
Out of 7000 hopefuls, Clay's talent stood the test and the Charlotte, NC male won over judges and the public. Appearances can be deceiving and perhaps nowhere was this so aptly demonstrated as with Clay. Clay didn't look like a star but when he opened his mouth and began to sing, people knew he had something special.
Clay Aiken's Early Years
Aiken began singing as a young child and performed at the tender age of 5. Clay's love of music continued and later, as a teen, Clay became part of the Raleigh boy's choir, which led to roles that helped him to polish his singing and his public performances.
The Defining Moment . . .
- Clay was working towards a master's degree when he auditioned for American Idol in 2003.
- Clay's second place finish did nothing to curb his music career. He landed a deal with RCA within weeks of the Idol finale.
Aiken's debut single, "This is the Night" made history, selling in record numbers.
