Mushroom Goulash--A Dinnertime Favorite With Hamburger, Noodles, Mushroom Soup and Garlic

By

Goulash

This easy-to-make goulash will quickly become a dinnertime favorite

Mushroom goulash is truly delicious and, best of all, it can be made with minimal effort, using everyday ingredients. It is every bit as good the next day when reheated and can be frozen for additional meals.

Mushroom soup makes a creamy-tasting gravy and the garlic adds so much flavor. It's not hard to see why this goulash is a long-standing favorite supper dish.

  • Mushroom goulash makes the perfect quick Friday night meal. Make lots of it and serve it over the weekend.
  • Goulash is a good choice when entertaining--it's inexpensive and your guests will enjoy the flavor.
  • You can make a large pan of goulash and take it to a potluck.

The flavors improve as this goulash sits, so it is even better when reheated for subsequent meals.

Making Mushroom Goulash

Goulash is made with four main ingredients: hamburger, egg/broad noodles, mushroom soup and freshly crushed garlic.

Mushroom Goulash Recipe

1. Brown 1/2-1 lb. of ground beef with lots of crushed garlic (2-6 cloves).

2. Add 2-3 cans of Campbell's mushroom soup. Do not add water and do not substitute for a cheaper brand of soup. The Campbell's mushroom soup gives goulash its creamy flavor.

3. Season with salt and pepper and adjust garlic to preference, adding in garlic powder, as needed.

4. Keep warm on low heat.

5. Cook up one pkg. of egg or broad noodles. Drain and return to pot, then add the meat mixture. Stir to combine ingredients.

* You can also add garlic powder and freshly sliced mushrooms to the meat, when browning.

If you plan on serving mushroom goulash to a crowd, you can place it on a platter or into a large attractive serving dish.

Hi Compu-smart,

Thanks for your comments.

This dish is easy to make, even for someone who doesn't cook: just fry the meat, cook the noodles, and then stir in the soup--and presto!--you have a tasty dinner dish.
