Kelly Clarkson American Idol Winner
67Kelly Clarkson took the world by storm when she won the first season of American Idol in 2002.
Kelly wanted to be a singer from an early age, and got off to a good start, performing in musicals at her local high school. After graduation, she headed to Hollywood to pursue her musical aspirations; however, after her apartment burned down, Kelly returned to her hometown of Burleson, Texas.
Her friends encouraged her to audition for American Idol and the rest, as they say, is history. Kelly earned a position as a top 30 finalist, then made it to the last two finalists, and, on September 4, 2002, won the competition.
