How to Find Your Blog's RSS Feed URL
By Athlyn Green
RSS Feed URL . . . Huh?
Perhaps one of the most dreaded questions a blogger will ever face is a request for his or her RSS feed URL. While many bloggers can whip off their blog's address with pride, trying to actually nail down their blog's feed URL is a different matter entirely.
Now, we all know by now that RSS stands for really simple syndication but the "really simple" part somehow escapes us when we are petitioned to enter our blog's RSS feed URL into a form.
A typical scenario is that you might be trying to add your blog to a blogging directory and you hit a wall when petitioned for that damn feed URL. The awful part of all this is that if you don't play ball, your blog doesn't get listed in these directories. And no, trying to submit the form without the requested feed URL doesn't fly, even if you hit submit or save repeatedly and, if most of you are honest, at this juncture, you click the x up in the corner to make the bad form go away, telling yourself you will do it when you aren't so busy. Right.

What You'll See: A Form Requesting an RSS Feed URL
For anyone who is trying to bump up blog readership, adding their blog, and by extension their blog's RSS feed URL is a necessary, all-be-it painful step (and you thought going to the dentist was bad!).
If you are ready to finally buckle down and learn how to find your feed URL, read on.
Okay, so how do you find the feed URL?
Shrink down your current window with the form asking you for your feed URL, so that you don't lose your work thus far, and sighing, navigate over to Blogger. For the sake of this tutorial we'll be using Blogger. If you have a WordPress blog you will have to find a related tutorial that walks you through that process.
*******************************************************************************************************
Finding Your Blog Feed URL
Once you are at Blogger, sign in to your blog and click on View Blog.
Find the two Subscribe buttons that should be living over on your sidebar: one is entitled Posts, the other is Comments and each of these is prefaced by an orange box.
If the orange buttons haven't found a home in your sidebar, you have not yet installed them. You'll be sighing or grinding your teeth at this point, and you will have to scroll down in this Hub for instructions about how to install them.
- Now, click on Posts. You'll see a drop-down menu
- At the very bottom, you'll notice Atom
- Right-click on that
- Click on Properties
- You'll see Link Properties and underneath that Address. Ah hah! There's your RSS feed URL!
- Simply run your mouse over it to highlight it, right-click, then press Copy--then Paste the little beggar into forms, as necessary.
*******************************************************************************************************
Another Way to Find Your Blog's Feed URL
- If you right click and you do not see "Properties" never fear, there's another way to find your blog's feed URL. Complete steps 1-3 above and when you right-click on Atom, hit Send Link.
2. Viola! Your Blog's RSS feed URL will load itself into your email program.
3. Simply run your mouse over it to highlight it and while it is highlighted, right-click and select Copy.
You now have your Feed URL and can paste it into the form requesting it. To do this, insert your cursor into the form, right-click and select Paste or hit CTRL + V on your keyboard, which will paste your Feed URL into the form.
*******************************************************************************************************
Can't Find the Orange Feed Buttons?
Don't See the Buttons?
If you do not see these two buttons, this is because you haven't yet installed them on Blogger.
- Go to Design (at the top right of your page).
- Another page will open, entitled "Add and Arrange Page Elements." You'll see "Add a Gadget" capsules.
- Click on one to open it and scroll down until you see "Subscription Links." Once you add these and Save them, you will have feed buttons, whereby you can find your RSS feed.)
If you hadn't done this already, you should add your blog feed buttons so that people can subscribe to your blog.

Wow Mark, great productivity, I'm wondering how it is now going in monetary terms. I'm on about $2,000 a month Internet earnings so this is one of my favourite subjects and how I came to find your hub.

This is a great resource for us Hubbers. I found rss directories I wasn't aware of thanks to your sharing. Thank you and good luck! Where can I see the results of your journey? BTW, I think it is a good idea to set monetary goals, even if the exchange rate screws you up at the end, the fluctuations will be about 5% more or less, but it is much less than setting goals of say, $5 a day vs $500 a day.
In this video you have explained how to subscribe RSS Feed and how to access your blog or site.
Sure I will adopt this way

Hi Pamela,
Yes, once you get onto using feeds they can be very handy. For example, if you want a page to update so that it draws search engine attention, a feed is the perfect item to include. It works away in the background for you.

I can't find the two subscribe buttons you mention. Not even sure which sidebar. Plus I'm not even quite sure what a feed is, except that it might be useful? I've been here a month and there's still so much to learn. Thankfully the HP community are very generous with their assistance

Hi Bailey,
If you are on Blogger, you have to install the subscribe buttons before they appear in your sidebar. You go to Design (Layout), then 'Ad a Gadget'. Scroll down to the fifth one above the bottom, where it says: Subscription Links and click to add it.
These boxes are a way of altering your HTML without having to go into your template, which can seem overwhelming in the beginning.

I really glad to read your nice article. Its looks like very informative and helpful.Thanks................
Thank you - loads of lovely info to get me started - am bookmarking this one.
veryy helpful hub, thanks!
hallo, I like Green's funny article. but I'm stuck on step #1.
when I click to blog something, (Amazon author's page) then they want the rss feed url.
which naturally is invalid. so I navigated, sighing of course,to my hub pages blog in hopes to easily find an example of the rss feed.
the two subscribe buttons on the right don't say posts and comments. so there's no drop down menu to click on.
they say subscribe to my blog
and then the other says add a widget.
clicking on either of those subscribe buttons doesn't lead me to the rss feed url amazon wants.
adding rss? didn't do the trick. never mind, I'm thinking my page is not fully activated yet to fly. perhaps.
30 whacks with a wet noodle for me then. happy holidays.
great blog. macs might be different also.
Hi Scheng,
I used to do that, too, until I discovered the trick above. This saves so much time and gives you the URL.
so simple?! I always go a roundabout way to find rss through feedburner.
Hello Zsuzby and Anne,
I'm glad you found this information helpful.
I've stumbled onto most of this by trial and error.
Very useful. Thank you so much. Yesterday I submmitted my blogs to a site and it asked me for exactly this. I didn't know what to put or how to find it. I should've seen this yesterday. Bookmarked.
Great hub as always. Just the info I was looking for. Thanks for sharing.
hope you're well
kindest regards Zsuzsy

Hi Jerry, I just sent you an email with your Feed URL. At your site, you simply go to the orange feed button in the right column, then you click on RSS FEED, right beside the orange button, when the box pops up, you select Send Link. Your email will open with your RSS feed URL. You copy/paste that.
