Seed butter spreads are a delicious alternative to store-bought bread spreads. Seed butter is easy to make and is a fantastic way to give your kids better nutrition.
Why settle for standard store-bought spreads loaded with salt and the wrong kinds of fats?
While seed butters can be served to kids, they are also a healthful alternative for adults wanting to incorporate more seeds into their diet. Seeds are nutrient dense foods and, as such, can play a role in a healthful eating plan. One of the easiest methods to increase your seed consumption is to make nutritious seed butter.
Seed butters can be sweetened using honey, Rogers Syrup (no preservatives!) or maple syrup.

Making Seed Butter
Making seed butter is a simple process. you can make a homemade seed butter using a variety of your favorite seeds
- Sesame seeds
- Flax seeds
- Sunflower seeds
- Pumpkin seeds
Whatever seeds you choose, you should try to purchase organically grown seeds. These can be obtained at whole food markets or in the bulk or dry goods section of larger food stores. Some markets include organic sections and seeds can be found in these areas.
If you plan to make seed butters a regular part of a healthful menu, it may be best to order your seeds in bulk and then follow storage instructions to prevent spoilage.

Seed Butter
You'll need a small grinder to grind your choice of seeds to make your seed butter.
- Grind equal amounts of chosen seeds
- Remove ground seeds and place ingredients into a bowl.
- Drizzle in water or olive oil to make your seed butter easier to spread
- Add liquid honey to sweeten mixture
- Stir ingredients to blend. Test for sweetness.
