Seed butters can be sweetened using honey, Rogers Syrup (no preservatives!) or maple syrup.

Making Seed Butter

Making seed butter is a simple process. you can make a homemade seed butter using a variety of your favorite seeds

  • Sesame seeds
  • Flax seeds
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Pumpkin seeds

Whatever seeds you choose, you should try to purchase organically grown seeds. These can be obtained at whole food markets or in the bulk or dry goods section of larger food stores. Some markets include organic sections and seeds can be found in these areas.

If you plan to make seed butters a regular part of a healthful menu, it may be best to order your seeds in bulk and then follow storage instructions to prevent spoilage.

Seed Butter

You'll need a small grinder to grind your choice of seeds to make your seed butter.

  1. Grind equal amounts of chosen seeds
  2. Remove ground seeds and place ingredients into a bowl.
  3. Drizzle in water or olive oil to make your seed butter easier to spread
  4. Add liquid honey to sweeten mixture
  5. Stir ingredients to blend. Test for sweetness.
