How to Crochet a Trendy Fall Scarf

Quick as 1-2-3 you can make this trendy fall scarf. This scarf pattern is easy to execute and whips up in one sitting.

This is scarf is a good crochet project for beginners and an introduction to the art of crocheting.

This multicolored scarf is made using two easy stitches: the chain stitch and the half double crochet.

Crochet Stitches Used in this Scarf Pattern

• Chain Stitch: yarn over, pull through loop.

• Half Double Crochet: yarn over, insert through opening under loops, yarn over, pull back though loops, yarn over and pull through all three strands on hook. (See videos below.)

• 3 skeins (60 yards/55 meters) of Bernat Frenzy (Black Blast) yarn or similar multicolored yarn.

• A size 10.0 mm (15 cm) plastic crochet hook.

1. Make a loose chain of 78 stitches (these are worked loose so that bottom edge does not curve), chain 2 (serves as first HDC).
   
2. Work HDC in second chain from hook.
3. Continue along row, working HDC in each chain stitch. (79 HDC, 78 loops) CH 1, turn.
   
4. In next row, work HDC into each loop along row. CH 1, turn.
   
5. Complete 10 rows, inserting HDC into loops along each row.
   
6. Fasten off.
7. Tassels may be added to either end in the loops. (Cut yarn to desired length and thread through loops.)
   

Scarf width can be adjusted for a narrower or wider scarf. A wider scarf will call for more yarn.
