Great-tasting butter tart bars are a special treat
If you enjoy the taste of butter tarts but don't have time to make pie crust, butter tart bars offer an easy alternative: the same great taste without the work.
Recipe for Butter Tart Bars
Butter Tart Bar Base
3/4 cup butter
3 tbsp. sugar
2 1/4 cup flour
Mix together with a pastry cutter and press into a cake pan. Use your hands to press down on mixture so that it holds together after baking. Bake 5 min. at 325 degrees. Remove from oven.
While crust is baking, prepare butter tart topping.
Butter Tart Bar Topping
Combine in a bowl:
3 eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup of melted butter (melt prior to adding to bowl)
1 1/2 tbsp. vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup light brown raisins
1/2 cup nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Pour over crust in cake pan and bake in 325 degree oven 20-30 minutes, until top is bubbly and base is cooked. Remove butter tart bars from oven and slice into bars while still warm.
These bars are delicious and buttery and taste just like traditional butter tarts.

These are easy to make and they are buttery and delicious. The base is close to pie crust and the topping is to die for. I make butter tart bars every year for the holidays.
